Horse and foal passed away at birth

On May 20th tragedy had struck our family with my daughters 11 yr old Friesian horse who was pregnant with a foal.  While the mare was ok at bedtime my wife went to check up on her at 5am and something in the early am had happened. Due to the rains getting the area wet she could not tell actually what stage she was at.  My daughter rushed home from the Rodeo she was at. Which for us, due to road construction takes over an hour and a half . She found the urgent need for a veterinarian to assist.
Lots and lots of calls were made for hours ,most vets did not  answer, left voice mails and no one called back, one said we were not a regular customer  so they would not attend to our situation, finally one said they were out of town but to meet at 530pm  in Anderson, so we took off. The horse exam left the mare with the need for two to three assistants and none of them were reachable when the Dr. called them. She said we need to drive another 2 ½ hrs  to UC Davis and they would help. We got there at 830pm.  As events unfolded we lost the foal and the mare.  
I am not one to ask for help but this has overwhelmed our family.  Any contribution towards the vet bill that got as high as $6000.00 trying to save the mare would be appreciated.
