We are proud to announce that Cameron Amine (Cam) has earned a position to compete on the Michigan USA Wrestling National Team. Cam earned this spot by claiming titles in the 138 lbs Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling finals. Most Recently (May 20-22nd in Kalamazoo MI) Cam was crowned champion at the USA Freestyle and Greco Central Regionals and was chosen "Most Outstanding Wrestler" in the Freestyle Division. Cam achieved one of his goals this past March and was crowned the 2016 MHSAA Division 1 Wrestling State Champion at 125lb as a Freshman, more impressivly he never gave up a point during the tournament.
By winning The Freestyle and Greco State Titles, Cam has earned a spot on the dual team and will compete with his team nationally in Freestyle and Greco Roman wrestling duals this June. Cam has also earned a spot to compete for Individual National title this July in Fargo ND. This requires a significant commitment from this young man. He not only needed to compete against many quality opponents to qualify, but will now attend camps and continue his training for the duration of the summer in order to prepare for this level of competition. Cam was recently ranked #23 among the TOM Top 30 High School Freshman by the openmat.com
The purpose of this letter is to identify this young man as an official member of “Team Michigan” for the summer of 2015 and attest to the fact that funds raised will go directly towards his expenses. The total cost for this year’s Dual and Individual competition combined will be in the neighborhood of $2500.00. This includes registration, gear, transportation, camps/training, housing, food and coaching. Fundraising for this event is extremely important so that this young man may have the opportunity to represent himself, his community and his state on the national stage.
