Hi, my name is Annika Wigert. If you’re visiting this page you probably know my dad Egil Wigert, even if you don’t, I am glad you’re here.
Egil really needs your help.
On August 20th, Egil set off to one of his favorite places to paraglide, Wonderland Lake, in North Boulder. Paragliding is his passion, his love and where he always says he feels closest to God.
It hurts my heart to even write this, but his day took a tragic turn when this particular fly ended in a life-threatening accident. Egil sustained a number of injuries (including a brain injury, 7 broken ribs, a crushed pelvis, internal bleeding, and a broken clavicle) resulting in a very extended stay in the ICU.
All thanks to eye-witnesses, a fellow paraglider, and emergency personnel from Boulder Mountain Fire District, Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, American Medical Response and the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group, along with sheriff's deputies, Egil was recovered from the accident. Because of their help and quick responses, Egil was airlifted to Saint Anthony’s hospital where he is receiving incredible support, is now stable and is on the long road to recovery.
As you can imagine, this accident has been extremely taxing on him and all of his loved ones.
I have created this account with hopes of alleviating some of the unneeded financial stress from my dad and our family. This will help us focus on what is most important right now: Egil’s health and recovery.
