Moumita Ahmed to the DNC
Many of you have come to know me as the co-founder of the Millennials for Bernie Sanders movement or as the young woman with infinite selfies with Bernie Sanders. You may have seen me listed as a national organizer for the People for Bernie Sanders (inventors of the #feelthebern hashtag, and the dank memes before BSDMS).
Bernie Sanders gave birth to People for Bernie and it gave birth to me and now I am here, a year later, in too deep, and still running the phones and the internet for this political revolution. I have even challenged second wave feminist icons like Gloria Steinem on CNN for questioning the propiety of young women who #FeeltheBern. I have traveled down to the dirty south, middle America, and the east coast, to canvass and phonebank for Bernie Sanders. I have toured HBCU colleges with fellow young berners to register hundreds of students of color to get out and vote. Back in NY I helped build some of th communities and groups for Bernie (eg; Queens for Bernie). I organized two massive GOTV marches in NY, the first one for the Iowa Caucus which had 5K attndees, and the second for the NY primary on April 19th, which had almost 20K attendees. Scenes from the march(es) are still available in pretty much all of the Bernie Sanders ads since then.
I am very proud of all our accomplishments together. In 2016, people like myself who were seldom marginalized from the democratic process are now demanding to be a part of it. None of this could have been made possible without Bernie Sanders, and this movement that feels incredibly life changing to me. That is why I am so elated to announce that I have been chosen by the state committee of NY to go to the Democratic National Convention, this year, as an at large delegate. I am excited for this huge opportunity to vote on behalf of my generation, but I cannot do it unless I have your support.
The hotel that all delegates are to stay in is going to cost $450/night to start for the 4 day period, in addition to transportaion it roughly comes up to $2000 a delegate.
( Interview with BBC on GOTV day)
I don't have that kind of money on hand, so I am relying on your kindness and generosity. Please help me get to the DNC by contributing any dollar amount of your choice to this fund to help me get there, and I will do whatever it takes to lockdown our dude's victory.
Thank you in advance!
Solidarity 4 ever
