We've established a scholarship in her name, to be awarded to those who've helped bring her Abington Heights fame.
So a gift for the party you certainly won't need, instead consider making a donation to help future students continue to succeed."
Not many people can say they attended, graduated from, and taught for thirty-three years in the same school district. Now the time has come for Judi to leave the halls of South Abington Elementry, and while she might be ready to stop helping formally in the classroom, we want to make sure she can continue her legacy of making a difference in the lives of students to come.
Which brings us to the "Judi Mahlstedt Award/Scholarship," a working title to be revised with her eventual input. With the help of your donations, we are setting up a scholarship with the Abington Heights Student Aid Fund. After her surprise party, Judi will be able to finalize the criteria for future recipients. Although it's not a traditional way of educating, this scholarship will ensure that Judi's legacy continues. We can't think of a better way to honor such an amazing woman who has shared her time, energy, and passion for teaching with the Abington Heights community for so long.
Also, like the party, we are keeping this as a surprise to share with Judi the day of her party in July, so mums the word!
Please feel free to contact Ashley Mahlstedt with any questions about the scholarship fund. We thank you in advance for your generous contribution.
With Greatful Appreciation,
The Mahlstedt Family
