From Oxycontin to Oxford

Hi Everyone

Thank you for watching the video of how God took me from Oxycontins to Oxford. We are so excited to begin our adventure in Oxford, and as many of you know, Khadija and I have only a few short months until we sojourn to Oxford University where I will study Apologetics.

The first year of my Oxford Education will cost us $50 000.00 because I am taking two programs while there (Apologetics through OCCA https://www.theocca.org/ & Theological Studies through Oxford University  http://www.wycliffehall.org.uk/).

Apologetics?
Are we becoming professional apologizers? I'm married so I thought it'd be a handy skill. Just kidding. Apologetics simply means "to give an answer."

Give an answer to what?
It's two fold; graduates are trained to give answers to those who are curious about Christianity, unfamiliar to faith, and/or those who wrestle with life's toughest questions. This is an extremely interesting branch of academia; its a wonderful blend of Science, History, Theology, Philosophy, Sociology and more.

From Oxycontin to Oxford
7 years ago I began my journey with Jesus. I was on drugs (namely Oxycontins), drinking, partying, and living a rather prodigal life. But by God's amazing grace, He saved me and literally helped me to go from Oxycontins to Oxford. It is my calling in life to help as many people as possible know this amazing God of grace. As John Newton classically wrote, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now I see."

As a result, Khadija and I have been working with the youth of Calgary Life Church ever since. This has radically changed my life. An all consuming passion for helping people has caused me to invest my time, treasure, and talents into seeing a positive change in others. I've enjoyed walking with students on the journey of life, through glorious mountain tops and dark valleys.

So why Oxford?
Well I've observed that both adults and youth struggle with the same thoughts: "how can I find meaning in life?”, "does my life have a purpose?”, "is there really a God?”.

Since I love to help others, Oxford University has one of the best programs in the world to teach me how to be the most effective in this vocation.

This journey we are going on is one we cannot do alone. This is a huge and exciting step out of our comfort zone, and up to this point all of your encouragement in our decision has made this process so much easier.
