Carley and Shawn went in for an induction Wednesday night (Sept 30,2020)at 10pm due to swelling, elevated bp, and a little protein in her urine but nothing too high. Her dr made the call to go ahead and induce since she was almost 37 weeks and it was a call they made together. At 12am they started Carley on cervidil. Around 2am she began cramping some and the nurse came in to check on Maddie’s heart rate because she had moved off the monitor and during the time she was checking Carley started to bleed pretty bad. It was all such a shock and it happened so fast. Carley had what’s called a placental abruption which is where the placenta detaches from the uterus. Baby Maddie’s heart rate dropped and they rushed her back for an emergency c-section. The only option she had was for them to take her right then. She had a all natural c-section (no meds, no epidural, no anesthesia). Carley felt and knew everything the entire time but knew she had to save her baby. When they delivered her at 2:59am she had been without or decreased oxygen for about 15 min and it took about 25 mins for them to get her back breathing. They immediately transferred her to the NICU at USA. Carley was then transferred by ambulance there as well around 10 am on Thursday.
There have been many ups and downs since her arrival at the NICU. So family, friends and whomever that would like to let’s help this precious family out and relieve some of the financial burden on them. They will both be out of work longer than expected and not only have their monthly bills but will also have medical expenses and daily living expenses. They will be staying at the Ronald McDonald house by the hospital as well.
Please continue to pray and ask God to perform a miracle on baby Maddie. ❤️
