As many people already know, Kokomo, IN experienced severe devastation at the hands of mother nature on August 24, 2016. The soon to be wed couple, Gary Burns and Catie Cossell, have braved through this traumatic time with lots of heart, strength, and support from loved ones.
Gary's house met the front of the storm and did not make it. The house is a complete loss. This is the house where they were going to spend their first couple years of marriage together. Fortunately, with the helpful hand of God, Catie was safe and sound as the walls and roof around her were ripped away by the tornado.
The next day, the family gathered to help survey the property and box up all of their belongings that were salvagable. As we all were finishing up, the reality of the situation started to set in, the home they once knew was gone.
In light of all of these events, Gary and Catie still plan to be married in about one month. They will be starting their lives in Gary's Great-grandmother's house until the rebuilding process is complete. The house is furnished, but it is furnished exactly the same as when his Great-grandmother had lived there. We are all very thankful that they have a roof over their head. Nonetheless, it will not feel like a home.
To help out this sweet couple start their life together positively, we invite everyone to donate anything they are able to. We hope to give Gary and Catie the opportunity to give the house some extra love to make it more like their home again. They lost all their comfort items (couches, beds, blankets, pillows,etc.), so giving them an opportunity to make them feel more comfortable is what we are aiming to do.
