This is probably one of the hardest things that I have had to do, however a friend with whom I reached out to suggested this forum. I know everyday all of us get bombarded with fundraising request, and I know many of them are much more important then what I'm about to request but one thing I have learned these last few months seeking help, one should not be afraid to ask.
Upon returning from Afghanistan in Spring of 2014 I returned to the Chicago area in order to be close to family and friends and thought it would be the best place to find a job. However, a year went by and I was unable to secure employment thus landed a temporary job on Fort Leonard Wood, MO in hopes that job would lend to a permanent position within the organization that I work for.
Finally, in late fall of 2015, it did just that and many of you know I now work on Fort Carson out here in CO. Due to the cost of the two big moves all within the same year, and for those who know, neither of these were PCS authorized, so the cost came out of my own pocket, I was unable to afford my own place once arrivng here.
I was lucky enough to have found friends who have allowed me to stay with them until I was able to get on my feet and get settled.
Two unexpected events have occured that have put me in the sitution that I'm in now. Two months ago I went to the ER and a decision was made I needed a minor surgery. I went to the hospital here on Fort Carson where it was discovered I didnt have TriCare, which is the insurance for military personal. I'm in the reserves and not active duty, so because I had Blue Cross/ Blue Shield through my DOD civilian job I felt I didn't need Tricare. However, because I was at a military hospital and didn't have TriCare, the hospital could not do the surgery because they did not work with Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Sounds crazy I know but true. I consider myself somewhat lucky that the docotor who saw me in the ER that night deteremined he didnt need to operate right then because the way it looks now I will be stuck with the ER bill but could only imagine what it would of cost me if I would of had surgery that night.
So it took another month before records were transfered over to the VA and I was able to have the surgery. On top of all of this the friends I have been staying with now have an unexpected move and I now must secure a new place to live.
Cost of living out here is crazy and for my Chicago friends and family I think it actually cost more here then back home. That said, I simply need help to get started. The unexpected ER bill Im about to deal with and all the start up cost to move, I simply don't have. Some friends have already offered to help and I'm so grateful to them and for those of you who would consider helping I say thank you.
My friends are moving out this week and I'm able to stay here till May 20th. I have found a place to live and the new landlord is working with me and holding the place till I secure needed funds in hopes I have it by May 20th.
Again, I know there a lot more worthy causes out there for you to give too, I really do but I just simply do not know where else I can turn to but those of you who have followed me through the years.
If you can't help financialy youself, would you consider helping share my request.
