On August 13th, 2020, Esther DeGeus suffered a serious stroke on the left side of the brain caused by a very large ruptured aneurysm which resulted in brain bleeding and substantial neural damage. For the past six weeks she has been in a coma under hospital care, showing minimal progress for neural recovery and rehabilitation. As of this weekend our family has made the decision to bring her home from the hospital under hospice care.
Elders from Esther and Duane's church plan to come by prayerfully anoint her early this week and our family, being strong believers in God’s miraculous healing powers are looking for God to guide us on the next steps after that prayer. We would like to extend an invitation for visiting Esther and/or the family that is present, prayers with her and/or us, help around the house, errands for Duane, etc. She is now settled at home awaiting either God’s miraculous healing in the next few days or His invitation to go home to be with Him.
The three local daughters (Megan, Lauren & Ashley) as well as husband Duane are all maintaining full-time jobs throughout this, and as hospice does not offer the 24/7 care that Esther's condition requires at this stage, the four family members will be taking shifts caring for Esther mom and going in to work. A fourth daughter, Jenny, will be arriving from out-of-state this next weekend (October 3rd) to offer love and support as well. Michael, Esther's son, currently remains out-of-state with his wife who is due to give birth any day.
Please know that we so appreciate the support and prayers many of you have already given our family during this hard time. For those who may feel led to give financially as well, we are incredibly grateful!
