How it all started
In a galaxy not far, far away, (in fact right here in our back yard) a saga is unfolding that needs our help. Our story's hero is one named Mike Brignac. You may known him. If not, your child may, if they have been lucky enough to have been his student. Mike has been a teacher, a radio reporter, a TV anchor and most importantly is a father of 5. He has long been apart of our community and poured his soul into it through his radio shows and our future through our kids. Unfortunately, these mediums have been taken away from him, through tragic circumstances.
While working with the BP oil spill clean up back in 2010, Mike was horrifically exposed to dangerous amounts of anhydrous ammonia when a plant along the coast had an uncontrolled leak. As a result, he has had debilitating medical issues arise in the forms of Dystonia and Toxic Encephalopothy. As with all intensive medial conditions (that need many tests to find), bills accrue, medicine is needed and treatments would ease complications. Things we take for granted, like a comfortable chair to sit in, become paramount for someone who will spend most of their day in one.
I'm sure everyone's first thought is, sue the plant, get big money! That was the idea, until due to legal complications, that option is not viable. For nearly 6 years, all expenses have been out of pocket with no relief in sight. So as you can imagine, life for our Mr. B has been trying at the least and at times may seem hopeless. Let's show him that it isn't, that he has people who love and care about him and his family.
