On March 18th of this year, Jon Dudley was hit by a truck while riding his bike on his way to work. The accident broke his leg in 3 places. At least one of those was compound and broke through the skin. The resulting surgery installed a permanent steel rod in his leg. After 6 days in the hospital, the initial recovery estimate was 2-6 months.
Unfortunately, Jon lost his job as a result of the accident. It required significant amounts of walking as part of sales and canvassing for a local company. In the month and half since the accident, he has found a new full time desk job that he started on May 9th. This new job comes as he is just able to walk unaided for extended periods of time. He is getting stronger and should fall within the recovery time line. Jon is overy enthusiastic about his recovery and is looking at the new job as a way to get bak on track and to bolster his goal to get back to running.
With the new job, Jon is closer to becoming stable, however the last 9 months had a significant financial impact on his life. At the end of last summer, he was laid off from his previous job. With finances tight, Jon decided to take early Social Security. By the end of the year, Jon had a part-time job to help offset his monthly bills. A big financial setback happened in December when Jon had his first bike accident, which required a trip to the ER. Unfortunately, Jon's insurance was not yet activated and he was forced to absorb all of the medical costs. Jon has been able to negotiate some reductions, but these costs are still significant.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 for Jon and we are asking you to join us in this effort by making a contribution!
As his friends, we want to help Jon wipe out his financial baggage of the last 9 months, so that he can focus on recovering and building a stable financial base for the foreseeable future. He has been working to reduce his monthly costs, and many of his friends have assisted him with other financial options and advice. Your contributions will go directly to helping pay off current and past medical bills, as well as offsetting rent and utility bills.
Thank you so much for your support.
