June 5, 2016 is Mother's Day for me this year. I will be running 26.2 miles in the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon in honor of Rosie, my Mama.
For years we have watched the disease of Alzheimer's slowly take this amazing woman from us. A woman ahead of her time, Rosie was a Flight Attendant for United Airlines. She was also a Registered Nurse where she spent years caring for others. Mother of 4 children and 4 grandsons, she is loved by everyone who knows her. In her later years, she loved to play tennis and tap dance where she performed for Rhythm Tappers in shows in Sun City West, AZ until she could no longer remember her steps.
Watching my Mama slip away has been very sad and my heart goes out to all families and care givers dealing with this terrible disease. My sadness has empowered me to make a difference and I am asking for your help.
In honor of Rosie, l have started a 2 week campaign to raise $25,000 for Alzheimer's Research here in San Diego. Lofty goal? Yes, but I am asking anyone who has been touched by dementia of a loved one to make a donation. Please share on your Facebook page. Together we can make a difference.
Thank you for your generous support. It means the world to me!
Much Love,
