Meet Landen Hoffman, he is a 13 year old middle school student that LOVES BATMAN...this is his story.
On Friday, 29 April 2016, Landen's mother Dani, took him to the doctor for a sore throat and difficulty swallowing. He was diagnosed with Tonsillitis and given antibiotics to treat the illness. Fast forward 3 days, Monday, 2 May 2016, Landen woke up with the right side of his neck swollen beyond belief. His parents (Dani and Marvin) took him to the ER at Memorial Herman Hospital. There, the doctors did multiple tests to include blood tests, xrays and CT scans. Within several hours, it is safe to say, Dani and Marvin received the SHOCK of their lives when doctors told them they suspected Landen had Lymphoma due to the large mass in his chest revealed by the CT scan as well as several other tumors throughout this body, most noticeable the one on the right side of his neck which had revealed itsself only hours earlier.
Landen was transferred to MD Anderson Cancer Center that same evening where many more extensive tests were done over the next 48 hours to properly identfy their sons illness. Tests included, bone marrow biopsy, spinel aspiration and various other blood tests. SHOCK escalated to DEVASTATION when the doctors finally identified this horrible disease. Landen's diagnosis is T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
This cancer effects his blood as well as his bone marrow.
Currently his treatment plan is 3 1/2 years of chemotherapy (weekly) blood transfusions and possibly a bone marrow transplant.
Dani has worked in the medical field for several years helping others but due to the illness and treatment plan she is unable to return to work for at least the first 12 months of this treatment.
I started this GoFundMe account with the hope of helping Dani and Marvin with the tremendous medical expenses as well as everyday living expenses so they may focus on the care for their son.
