This is the story of one 11 year old girl and her $600 little sorral horse that only one year ago was found at a local rescue. Haley has been showing rodeo and cutting horses since the age of 5. The expression born on a horse was definitely suited for her. She has won many buckles and saddles competing in horse shows. So what makes this story any different? The day we got a phone call from a friend requesting us to drive down and take a look at a little horse that found her way to a horse rescue. An hour and $600 later that little horse was in the our trailer headed home. Something about this little mare had quickly made her way into our hearts. Haleys grandma was determined it would be her next pole bending horse and we all kind of chuckled. Well I can tell you who has the biggest smile now. This due team not only took a very short amount of time to learn the pattern but then climbed their way to third place in the district 3 jr high rodeo. This qualified them to go to the California State Jr High Rodeo Finals. In less then one year, in one arena this team was becoming quite talked about state wide. But could the pressure of a different arena, with the whole state watching change their program? In the middle of May in three quick days, they came out State Pole Bending Champions. Clearly a Cinderella story in the making. And now on their way to Lebanon, Tennessee to compete in the National Jr High Rodeo Finals. No matter what happens with this rookie rider and her freshly seasoned horse we are beyond proud!
Tennessee is 2,310 miles away, along with finishing 6th grade, continuing care for her other horses and pets, and keeping up with practice for her other events, Haley is working hard to raise money for the time of her life trip! She has plans for fundraiser tack sales, recycling cans and plastic and good old fashion hard working chores. This account is made for family, friends and anyone that is a little far away for her to do physical work for but for every dollar funded she will be working hard at home for it. Thank you everyone for even a few dollars sends her forward.
