Kenya Mission Trip

Hello everyone! My name is Vickie, and I am raising money to go on a mission trip to Kenya this summer. My church, newhope in Durham, NC, has a campus in Thika Town, Kenya. A group of us are headed there this summer, and I am so excited to use my gifts from God to give back in the following way...
newhope has been journeying with a group of about 36 ladies and 4 men who are sex trade workers, forced into prostitution simply to feed their children due to extreme poverty, lack of education and domestic abuse/abandonment in the slum areas of Thika. In Thika (which is about the size of Durham), there are over 11,000 sex trade workers. This group of individuals is ready to leave and we’ve been journeying with them. About half have accepted Christ, and they are meeting every Wednesday night for worship and teachings with newhope Kenya pastors.
We have their video testimonies, and now they are developing business plans for an alternate income generating activity that will truly allow them to step out of the sex trade and provide for their family! Amy Lynn (Children's Ministry Pastor) and Anna Grace Kelley (eldest daughter of Amy Lynn and Benji (Sr. Pastor)) have started a non-profit/ministry extension of newhope called “Street Hope” that is going to be the catalyst for a 12-18 month program these men and women are enrolled in to provide accountability and training in partnership with newhope Kenya. In July, as part of the mission trip, we’ll be going with them to make their initial business purchases (i.e. Getting chickens and rabbits, or renting store spot for clothing store) with grant money that has been raised through Street Hope. In addition, I will be providing business training to this group of men and women to provide them with a strong foundation for launching and running their businesses.
I appreciate any amount that you are willing to donate! I have recently launched my own consulting practice, which is why I need to raise money to go on this trip. This part of the process has been a humbling part of God's walk for me, so thank you for being a part of this leg of my journey.
All of the money raised is tax deductible and will be given directly to newhope church for use towards the Mission trip.
