Dojo tatami mats for karate

My name is Armel Oum Maemble and I am a Karateka. I have practised shotokan Karate all my life. My fellow Karatekas and I have faced many challenges in the pursuit of learning this martial arts. One such challenge was training in concrete floor and muddy floor. In fact, many countries in Africa still do not have dojos with Tatami mats. The reason is simple. They cannot afford it. This lack of infrastructure is a barrier to the progress of the arts. As a result many such countries cannot produce Olympic athletes in the discipline. For the past 15 years since I immigrated to the United States, I have been blessed to train in very good conditions and even competed against world class athletes. Mindful of where I started, I wanted to give back to the karate school that has contributed to my growth. It takes a village to raise a child. so It bothers me so much to see that the training conditions of my fellow Karatekas back home have not improved. If I can help just this dojo, I think I will have changed the world and that is my way to promote Karate. Through this initiative, $1,281 has been raised for the cause so far and it is contribution of Karate instructors, karate students and people from all background. If you can contribute even $15, it will make a difference. 58 meter square dojo mats have been bought through local referrals and now $600 is needed to ship the mats via the sea to Cameroon. I really appreciate you for taking the time to read this story and everyone who has contributed.
