This page is set up to assist our mother Gracie Bernhardt ( Gracie DeVora-Hernandez). All proceeds raised will go directly to our mom and her husband John Bernhardt.
This money will help John with traveling expenses, food and all other financial needs. Our mom is currently 2 1/2 hours away from home which requires John to travel making multiple trips to care for their four fur babies & our mom.
This nightmare for our mother began Wednesday May 18, 2016.
Our mother was complaining of a headache, this headache progressed quickly. The excruciating pain took over her body and she fell ill. She had to be transported by EMS to the local ER. At this hospital the decision was made to life flight her to another hospital 2 1/2 hours away to provide the care that she needed. The weather was not in favor for flight, so she was transported by Ambulance. Few hours after we were informed that our mother had a left posterior communication artery aneurysm rupture & subarachnoid hemorrhage and surgery was a must.
The surgery went well, and she will be recovering in ICU for the next two weeks. Every day is crucial, for at anytime she could possibly hemorrhage, we as well as the doctors are optimistic. She has began the process of occupational therapy and physical therapy. Speech therapy may be needed as well. In brief, This long road of recovery is far from over, she will need to have future surgery to place a stent as well as future spinal surgery...
