This Go Fund Me account is being created in hopes to raise money for our family after recently being struck with an uncertain medical diagnoses for our young daughter. Mercedes, like most 3 year olds, is a fun loving, carefree toddler that loves playing outside, coloring, and playing/fighting with her twin sister Lexi and older sister Mackenzie.
On Tuesday, May 17th, Mercedes was taken to the doctor for swelling in her stomach, legs, and face which we were anticipating as an allergic reaction to antibiotics that were being given for an ear infection. After a blood and urine test, our expectantly routine visit turned into a medical emergency. Mercedes’ potassium levels were at a level that could cause cardiac arrest, her red blood cell counts were dangerously low, and the doctor was concerned about kidney failure. She was immediately admitted to the ER in Billings and within hours was transported by MedFlight to the Children’s Hospital in Denver for further care.
Once in Denver, doctors were able to get her potassium and red blood cell levels stabilized but upon a barrage of tests over the last five days, doctors are still uncertain as to the exact diagnoses of her kidney complications. On Thursday she underwent a biopsy of her kidneys, the preliminary test results ruled out many concerns that the doctors initially had. Finalized biopsy results should be available Monday, in which doctors are hoping will shed light onto what is happening and allow them to come to a complete diagnoses and create a care plan.
The money raised will go towards medical bills, travel expenses, food and other related expenses while staying in Denver and afterward. Any donation is welcomed and appreciated more than you will know. We are so grateful for all the support and prayers we have been receiving from friends, coworkers, and family for a quick and healthy recovery for Mercedes.
