You may know her from school. You may know her from being your neighbor. You may not know her at all yet. Me and my husband know her from working at Bank of America. We all started at the same time and ended up being pregnant at the same time. My daughter was born just three months before her baby boy. Why she needs it: Anna had had thyroid cancer and has already went through the grueling treatment of chemo therapy and surgery. After surgery, she thought she was in the clear. Only just recently the prognosis now has to deal with the cancer metastasizing to her lymph nodes. As her friend, maybe I shouldn’t have googled what all this meant as far as survival odds, but I did. The numbers I saw left little room for hope and also left tears in my eyes. I couldn’t help but put myself in her shoes. We used to work at the same place. Her son is the same age as my daughter. I couldn’t help but reflect what it would be like if I was a single mother in the same situation. What if this was the last year with my kid? What would happen if I died before my kid started third grade? What if all these questions were backed by the tremendous financial pressure of past chemo and surgery and future medical care? What it will feel like when you give: The prognosis is bad but her heart is good. Find it in your heart to give to hers. I would love to just help her out without a go fund me, but I’m not at that stage in my life that I can give that much. What I was able to give I know went to a cause I know I believe in.
