Millie’s surgery

Donation protected
These past couple of days have been hard for our sassy 2-year-old Dachshund, Millie. However, she is finally back home with us after undergoing a very intense gastrointestinal surgery this past weekend, December 3rd.

We are very grateful everything went well, although it was scary, I would do anything for my baby girl to stay alive. We first took her into our local emergency pet hospital on Friday, December 2nd after continuous vomiting without eating or drinking for nearly two days. Upon arrival, they had to perform emergency surgery immediately after completing a CT scan and finding that her vital signs were in critical condition. After surgery, her body was not responding well and was in critical condition. She remained on multiple medications due to her blood pressure and blood sugar being low. Required repeated X-rays and was maintained in critical care for an additional 2 days.

The main concern at this stage was that her bodily fluids were still accumulating in her abdomen after surgery. The veterinarian was concerned that if she were sent home, she might not survive. Finally, on the fourth day, they felt confident enough to discharge her and continue recovery at home with her loved ones. Her blood sugar and blood pressure were eventually stable, and she showed signs of eating (which previously required her to be force feed through a tube). Overall, her surgery was really intense, and they ended up taking part of her intestines out. The veterinarians pushed her very hard after her surgery to stay stable, but luckily, she was able to bounce back.

Now that she is finally back home, she must continue to take five different drugs to stabilize her over the next few weeks. Unfortunately, we know that medical costs can be unpredictable. Any support will be helpful as I am currently a fulltime student at UC Berkeley. Our family would be grateful to anyone who can donate to assist us cover Millie's medical expenses. And make sure she has the highest quality of life possible through comprehensive post-operative care.

We are heading into the holiday school break, and I intend to focus on Millie's return to her brilliant, sassy, and healthy self and on my studies. Thank you in advance for reading and sharing Millie's page. Along with the veterinarians who provided Millie with high-quality care during her stay. We appreciate any support.
