Alyssa's Hope to a Normal Life

Donation protected
My name is Tonia and I am the mother of Alyssa.  On a spring day in April 2009 my life changed forever. My dauther, Alyssa, is a victim of sexual abuse by her biological father from the age of 8 to 13 years old.  My late husband, Alyssa's dad, was a decorated Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force for 19 years.  He did many deployments and also served overseas on a 1 year remote tour leaving me to run the household.  During one of his deployments Alyssa finally told me her dad was abusing her.  I immediatly called his First Sergeant, the base Office of Special Investigation and DHS and he was brought back from overseas and charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse of a minor.  He was put into jail being detained until his court martial.  He sat in jail starting September 20, 2009 until January 1st 2010 when he dicided he couldn't live with what he did and hung himself from his jail bed.  My husband and I, and our 2 children were living as an "All American Family".  We were very involved in the community with Little League sports and school activities and liked by so many families. This tragedy was a suprise to many.  Alyssa has been dealt a bad hand.  I have fought for her to have a somewhat normal life, however Alyssa's ability to cope with the abuse has been unbearable.  Alyssa struggled through school with the feeling of shame and spent many days not wanting to get out of bed.  Depression set in and her life was never whole again.  Alyssa completed high school thru internet school with very low self esteem.  Alyssa looked for ways to take the pain away and numb her soul.  Alyssa had turned to drugs to hide behind the trauma.  Over the last few years she tried to do whatever she could to cope.  I have called our Military Insurance to cover rehab, but they won't cover rehab unless it is a medical necessity.  Heroine abuse isn't a good enough reason for insurance coverage.  I have called many rehabs and the cost is just too great.  I have spoke to a rehab that Alyssa could attend but it is $35,000 for 90 days of rehab. Once I reach $10,000, I will notify rehab and ask to start the program.  As soon as I am able to raise enough funds Alyssa will be given a chance to recover from this horrible abuse and the disease of drug abuse that has over taken her life.  My daughter deserves this help.  She is such a beautiful young lady that means more to me than anything.  I told her I would never stop fighting for her as long as I am on this earth.  If you are able to support Alyssa it would give Alyssa the opportunity to get professional help for this horrible disease and provide hope and a chance to overcome this horrible demon in her life.  I would appreciate the opportunity to see my daughter heal with the Grace of God!  God Bless you all.
