I've set up this fundraiser to help my dear friend Prabin in Nepal. Prabin is unable to access these fundraising sites from Nepal so has asked me to set this up and transfer the money out to him. Here is Prabin's story of his driver Ram, who I'm sure many of you who know Prabin will have met.
Let's build a house for RK and his Family!
I really want to help this family not only because RK is my driver but personally knowing that this family is going through tough time with four children and a 96 year old living under basic metal sheet shelter where it's freezing in winter, an oven in summer and rooms turn into muddy rice field pouring water sipping inside it.
This family has survived a year as many others families in Nepal who lost their house (and their loved ones) in the earthquake April 25th, 2015. He had some hope from the government at the beginning so he forgot his own problems and kept himself busy (with our HV team) driving us to all those communities where we were doing relief work. Without his full time and hard work our relief effort would have slowed down.
But now, with no sign of any government support (as advertised for a year now) he is left with no hope. He has been driving for last 27 years and for last four years he has become an important member of HV. He is supporting his family with his single salary from HV which is hardly enough for food for the family and education for his four children.
RK looks up to me everyday as if I am capable enough to make all his family's difficulties disappear. Well I am not!
However, I also can't ignore his situation and do nothing. I know there are many of my friends who know RK very well and RK has safely driven them all, during their time in Nepal. I am sure they would be happy to contribute whatever possible. Thousands of families are left homeless by the earthquake and now they are loosing hope too. While it's impossible for us to build a house for all those victims of nature, let's begin giving hope to a family in a similar situation. Let's build a house for RK and his family!
I personally have donated 1000 USD and RK needs another 11,000USD to build a full proof earthquake resistant house that will be his house forever!
