Help Heather Heal

“I will restore you to health and heal your wounds” Jeremiah 30:17

As many of you know Heather is no stranger to a doctor’s office or an
operating room. Over the course of her life she has had over 30 surgeries for everything from her hearing to her vision. But about 8 years ago a new pain began in her lower abdomen area. It was discovered that she has endometriosis. For those of you who don’t know what endometriosis is, it is the abnormal growth of cells similar to those that form on the inside of the uterus, but in a location outside of the uterus. Its cause is unknown. Symptoms of endometriosis include chronic pain, bleeding,  astrointestinal symptoms, fatigue, bladder pain/overactivity and infertility.

As time went on the pain became worse and has affected almost every area of her life. Heather is beyond dedicated to her job at UCI working in the oncology wing. Unfortunately, the frequent doctors’ appointments and pain have caused her to be out on disability several times over the past few years.

About two weeks ago Heather reached a very low point. After another
terrible day of pain and no closer to a solution, she made a cry for help.
She was taken straight to the ER. While waiting there a doctor made a
recommendation to go see Dr.Camran Nezhat up north in Palo Alto,
California.

John, Heather’s dad, immediately went home and did his research. Dr.
Nezhat is out of the Kaiser network but came VERY highly recommended. Heather and her parents flew up for a consultation on April 13 th . After just a few minutes examining Heather, he announced “I can fix this!” It was the first time a doctor had sounded hopeful in years!

But he is out of network, so this surgery will be all out of pocket.
All donations will go directly to paying for the surgery, the facility, the
doctor, his staff, and the recovery. Dr. Nezhat uses a technique where he goes in and does excision of the endometriosis. This method cuts out the endometriosis as opposed to a surgery that Heather had with Kaiser about 8 years ago where they cauterize the endometriosis. Research shows more positive results with excision compared to cauterization.

Heather’s family and friends continue to rally around her during this
extremely challenging time. We thank you for the amazing amount of
prayers from family and friends. Any donation you can make would be life changing for Heather. We love you all. Thank you for your continued support.

We will continue to update you all with any new information we have.
