In February this year, Eileen Englert was diagnosed with Stage 3c ovarian cancer. There is no pre-test for this type of cancer and no definitive cause. In March, Eileen underwent surgery for cancer staging, debunking, and at that time, was also to include omentum removal, re-sectioning of the colon and bladder, along with removal of appendix and lymph nodes and full hysterectomy. Based on the invasiveness of the disease, only partial debulking and omentum removal were deemed worth the risk.
Later in March after surgery, Eileen started chemotherapy on a 3 week cycle; to date 3 cycles have been completed. The chemo really knocks her on her butt for a good week or so and takes any appetite.
Last week (Mid May), Eileen had a CT scan in order to see how the cancer was responding to the chemo. Based on the scan, progress is good and Eileen will be heading back into surgery at the end of the month - removal of diseased areas, balance of omentum, full hysterectomy, colon resectioning and removal of appendix. Once Eileen has removed from the surgery enough to continue chemotherapy, she will finish the balance of the treatments.
Eileen has been out of work since February 2016 and possibly may return in September 2016. Medical bills are expensive; Eileen is lucky to have treatment close to home in order to avoid the travel expenses.
Let's all-colleagues, friends, family & acquitances-gather together to help Eileen in anyway we can. The process of fighting cancer is a stressful enough burden without the added thought of medical expenses. All funds will go directly to Eileen to help with what she needs the most at the moment. She is most grateful for everyone's thoughts, prayers, and help.
