Due to lack of NHS funding, Ashgate Hospice has been forced to slash their beds from a potential 21 to just six and making 52 of its workforce at risk of redundancy. This means that the hospice will see 600 few patients annually.
The most important action you can take is to support their Act Now for Ashgate campaign and contact the Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board or the MP and ask them to support fair, sustainable funding for Ashgate. However I wanted to do a little bit more and set myself a challenge to raise funds to donate - every little helps.
I’m setting myself the goal of cycling 250 miles throughout November on my static bike, which averages out to about 8.3 miles per day. While this may not seem like much, it's a significant milestone for me, especially as I’m still in the process of recovering from emergency spinal surgery and the complications that followed. It’s going to be tough, but I’m confident I can achieve my goal.
Any support, no matter how big or small, would mean a lot for this important cause.
