A close friend and employee has lost his legs in a tragic train accident and is unable to work and support his family. On the way home to his family from work on Monday night, May 5th 2019, Pedro Mendoza was about to board a train at a Bronx MTA station when he fainted and fell into the train tracks. Before he could be rescued, he was run over by a subway train.
Thursday morning, he woke up in St. Barnabas hospital in a bed and had to be rushed to surgery. Both of his legs were amputated.
I am Dean Kelepesis and I have known Pedro since I was a child when he began working for my father in his restaurant, Cafe 31, as the head chef. After he went missing on Monday, my restaurant employees who are good friends of Pedro’s searched for him until we located him at St Barnabas.
Pedro has been a diligent, loyal and hardworking employee for 6-7 days a week for over 25 years. He has a big heart that has always put his family first as he his the sole supporter in his household. He always puts his friends, his coworkers and customers as his priority to feed and satiate their appetites no matter how exhausted or busy.
Please help us in raising these funds to help our beloved brother through his recovery, for living needs, for prosthetics, for whatever he needs regain and get back on track to living the fruitful life he deserves. Thank you and God Bless.
