Describing who my Dad was and what he meant to the people in his life is not something that can be said with only a few paragraphs, but hopefully this will give you a glimpse of who Pete Rajecki was to so many.
My Dad was many things, he was a father of 6, a husband, a German immigrant, a college and professional football player, an entrepreneur, and an Elvis impersonator. One thing he was not was a man of few words. If you ever met him you would know that he loved people and was truly interested in hearing their stories and sharing his testimony with them. He was a passion filled man of God and told everyone he came into contact with about the love of Jesus. I think that this is how he would want to be remembered.
He was an orphan in Gelsenkirchen, Germany but at the age of 16 was adopted by his aunt and her husband (a WWII Vet). When he arrived in the US he could not read or write or speak english. This did not stop him because his heart was full of dreams and he had been given a chance to change his life. He played football at Sprayberry HS in Marietta, Ga and later played college football for the University of Georgia, and went pro with the Pittsberg Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
My Dad was a dreamer. It didn't matter if it seemed impossible to onlookers, he didn't see the obstacles, only the finishline.
With all of his accomplishments and amazing story of coming from nothing to attaining the American dream none us (his 6 kids) saw him as a professional football player or as a man who people revered. He was "dad."
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to help with hospital and funeral costs.
Thank you.
