LL Umpires from Hutchings Memorial

Story

Bobby Hutchings "HUTCH", loved his many years as a Umpire.  He loved the kids, and his Umpire Colleagues.  He umpired for over 20 years and at Pflugerville TX Little League did more than 3,000 games.  He also was a Mentor to many young umpires just as he was a Mentee in the beginning working and learning from Ruth, Travis, Howard and many many others.  He also traveled to many tournements, usually did double headers at Pflugerville, Taylor, and Elign, but his primary field was Field #2 at the Pflugerville Little Fields, just a short distance from our home. He also assisted as a Teacher and Grader of Umpires as he grew in his favorite past time. He did Regionals, Sectionals, State and eventually achieved his dream of being at the Little League World Series in 2000 in Portland Oregon.  Through all this, just as all other Little League Umpires, he was NEVER paid, he Volunteered his time and paid his own expenses for Equipment and Uniforms, and of course Travel. For this reason, the love of the kids and game, his colleagues, we have established a special Memorial Account specifically to assist in funding expenses for the Umpires  so they can continue to volunteer their time at all levels of umpiring levels.  Funds will be moved from this account to a Special Trust at Bank of America and made available for Uniforms and Equipment for local Umpires needs, including Travel for as long as the funds hold out. My best wishes that another Umpire makes it as far as Bobby did, to the World Series. With all my love I am proud to do this in my Loving Husbands Name.  Always, Sandy Hutchings
