Hello, my name is Jenny Chiu.

Hank (Han-Jung) Chiu is my Dad who just celebrated his 80th birthday in May this year. I love him so very much.

In January 2014, I moved back to Taiwan from the United States to help care for Dad who had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. I gave up my life, home and successful career I had built in the US. Dad fought against the cancer and won the battle. Unfortunately, through his fight, he developed heart disease, which has knocked him down. On September 3, 2020, he went out for his daily walk and we got a call from the neighbor that he had called for an ambulance because Dad had collapsed. We stayed at the ER for half the day. Even though we told the doctors he was not feeling well, they still released him from the hospital.
He continued to feel ill. On the morning of the 5th, Mom had to call 911 because his blood pressure was critical low and taking three of his heart medication pills did not help at all.
Dad was admitted to the Critical Care Unit and the doctors did everything they could to save him and get him back into a stable condition.

After several exams, the doctors told us the only way he would have a chance at surviving outside the hospital was if they performed a coronary artery bypass surgery. The surgery date has been set for this coming Monday on September 14, 2020. I am asking for your donation to help pay for my Dad’s hospital visits this past week and for his upcoming surgery and post-op care. We do not have medical insurance here in Taiwan and, unfortunately at this time, I do not have any income to help cover these increasing costs. I know it is a tough time with COVID-19 and I really appreciate anything you can do for my Dad, even if it is to keep him in your prayers for me and kindly share this page with your family & friends. Thank you so much for reading our story. Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated.
I donated blood because I know Dad will need it, even though he could not use my blood, I still feel like I am at least doing something for him.
Dad is doing some more examinations before surgery.
May everyone stay safe and healthy.
