On Sunday May 15, it breaks my heart to say, we lost Mamita. A woman who brought together four generations of my family. Narcisa Vargas Ferrufino lived a simple, yet wonderful, life. Sadly, it ended in torment. She was overcome by a very rare, fatal disease known as Calciphylaxis. In her last 4 months on this earth, Mamita needed around-the-clock care. My mother took more than 10 weeks of FMLA unpaid to care for her. Many of us spent endless days sleepless nights by her side. But now her suffering is over, and we have gained a beautiful angel.
Mamita's final wish was to be buried in Honduras, the land she loved, and in a plot she purchased. Funeral costs can be a huge financial burden, and as you can imagine, sending a cadaver to another country only adds to the blow.
So in lieu of flowers and gifts, I would like to help my mother and her siblings soften the financial blow with money to use as needed. Anything would help. And if you can't contribute, no worries. Please keep the prayers coming ... they help more than you know.
Thank you for the love and support you have already shown us, it means the world.
