Empowerment Self Defense Alliance

This fall, we're bringing a small group of amazing people together in Washington D.C. to begin coordinating the advocacy of Empowerment Self Defense--a research-based approach to personal safety shown to reduce sexual violence by 50% . And we need your help! Many ESD experts work in the non-profit world, and lack the organizational resources to travel to this gathering. Your donation will help bring experienced instructors together to start shaping a national approach to safety that is effective, inclusive, and transformative. ESD addresses not just interpersonal violence, but the institutional and systemic violence that makes all of us less safe. Send these folks to Washington, and their work will help make your community safer!

Meeting Dates: September 29-October 2, 2016
Funding Deadline: September 15, 2016

The funds raised here will be distributed among group members with the greatest need and the longest distance to travel (not all of us require funding). Individuals involved in this effort are affiliated with groups such as Defend Yourself  (Washington, D.C.); The Center for Anti-Violence Education (Brooklyn, NY); Safe Passage  (Northampton, MA); IMPACT Chicago; Sun Dragon Martial Arts and Self Defense, NFP  (Austin, TX); IMPACT Personal Safety New Mexico; IMPACT Boston ; and Ruckus Safety Awareness  (New York and Okinawa).
