Hi my name is Matt, my friends and some family call me Matty B. A year ago today (Sept. 10, 2019) I was diagnosed with end stage liver disease (Laennecs cirrhosis), stage 2 kidney failure and a few other illnesses affecting my gastrointestinal functions, gall bladder, and brain function; acute multi-systemic failure. I am in need of a liver transplant. I have unfortunately been laid off long term from a company I loved working for that provided my health insurance benefits and did very well to help me stay employed in any capacity with my illnesses until the covid pandemic happened. I qualified for and was collecting unemployment insurance but it has unfortunately run out and I have no other source of income. I have a very strong support network of friends and family but they can only provide so much by way of monetary assistance which is why I decided to set up a gufundme. The average cost for a liver transplant is $577,000 so that is the goal I set even though certainly every single bit raised is priceless to me and will also help with living expenses. My most often used nickname for as long as I can remember has been Matty B, and there are a lot of people whom I love and care for that also love and care for me that really want to keep using that nickname for as many years to come as possible. My milestone of a year of sobriety has been achieved today and I am ready to tackle this next goal just as effectively and confidently. I have fought really hard for the past year as this has changed almost every aspect of my life and I promise to continue fighting. Thank you for your consideration and God bless.
