Help with Amber's Recovery

Donation protected
On August 21, 2020 Amber was taken to the ER for confusion, weakness and other physical symptoms after weeks of unexplained nausea and vomiting. She was admitted to the hospital for fluid & electrolyte replacement and to run additional tests to determine the cause of her symptoms. It was determined that Amber has suffered a brain injury and is experiencing the profound neurological and physical effects of vitamin B1 deficiency. In other words, her prolonged illness combined with chronic malabsorbption from a previous bariatric surgery created the "perfect storm" in her body for this particular type of brain injury.

Brains take a long time to heal and unfortunately, we are not sure what Amber's long-term outcome will be yet. Even with insurance, her hospital bills and rehabilitation will be costly. Additionally, her mother Polly has temporarily relocated to Florida to assist with arranging for her medical care and other personal affairs. I know many of you will feel the need to call or text Amber for more information, but unfortunately she is having a hard time processing all of this. By all means, do continue to send her your messages of love and support though! We are asking people to reach out to her family for information/updates and we will answer questions when we are able to-and of course we will also be passing your messages to her. Thank you so much for your love and support!
