PLEASE HELP

Hi,

My name is Judy. I am fundraising because I had a devastating water incident in my basement this fall, resulting in a great deal of MOLD. I am a 79 year old retired school guidance counselor at an inner-city school system. I have always helped friends with loans, most of which were "forgiven." I also provided inexpensive housing for local college students years ago. I am embarrassed to say that now I'm the one who needs help. There are no Grants given by my state for Mold, only for lead paint. This is devastating. The first estimate I received for Mold Remediation was for $20,000. The latest is for less than that, thank goodness, but still out of reach. Insurance does not pay for mold remediation. What it IS paying for: dumpsters to remove moldy stuff from a basement that's been dry for over 30 years, plastic containers to hold stuff that has been cleaned, and one storage unit to keep everything I have cleaned and believe is salvageable; plus, a second storage unit for things I need to clean and sort through because of the early weather change including snow on Nov. 16th. Step 1 ~ is the mold remediation which is happening, but will not do everything really needed because it is not affordable now. Step 2 ~ I will still need: A Commercial dehumidifier with pump for about $3,000. Hopefully, I will not need Step 3 ~ an internal perimeter drain for $12,000. I am applying for what small loans I have found and hope that I am eligible. I would appreciate any help that you are able to give. Mold is scary and dangerous. Cleaning out the basement has been overwhelming. Thank you so very much.
