Hi Friends! We are looking to offer support to Amy, Isla’s mom as they tackle responding to a Moyamoya diagnosis. Moyamoya Disease is a chronic and progressive condition of the arteries in the brain, and can cause stroke, and seizures.
Isla has already been through a lot in her 10 years. She was born with just one kidney, had heart surgery at 6weeks old, wore a brace for 9 months as a toddler for hip dysplasia, she has autism and global delay, she was nonverbal til the age of 7.5. She is a very brave, strong, and amazing child. With the recent Moyamoya Disease diagnosed, she has been handling strokes, surgery, and hospital stays very well over this last month. The diagnosis has been so overwhelming, but she remains the same sweet girl.
We need to pull together to help her mom with the costs associated with Isla being in the hospital, like gas (it’s an hour each way), food while she’s out there, and the hotel to stay in during her surgeries. Her dad, Kevin, and Amy are trading off with her every 24 hours. They sleep in her room and help care for and comfort her (she has been quite sad a lot and is having a difficult time processing all this-quite understandably).
Any monetary support will be used to create as much comfort as possible during a wildly uncomfortable time, relieving some of the financial burden so that the focus can be on Isla and providing her the time and attention she needs during the healing process.
