Half Marathon for Abortion Access
Tax deductible
On Saturday May 18th, we (Kiana Davis, Emma Hankins, Gina Krupp, Carly Manes, Marissa Solomon, and Emily Weinberger) are running the Popular Brooklyn Half Marathon. Some of us are avid runners and some of us are running 13.1 miles for the first time. We didn’t originally plan on fundraising, but given the events of this month, we have collectively decided to run this race with a new purpose: to raise money for abortion care in the South.
In the last two weeks, Alabama and Georgia passed sweeping legislation that would make nearly all abortions illegal and limit already minimal access to abortion services (you can read more about what’s happening in Georgia and in Alabama). But these laws have not yet gone into effect, which means that there’s still time to fight. That’s why we’re raising money for Access Reproductive Care (ARC) - Southeast.
ARC-Southeast operates in Alabama, Georgia, and other southern states. They help people access safe abortion care by helping to arrange travel (especially in states like Alabama where there are only three abortion clinics), lodging, and finances for those who need assistance paying for care. They also advocate to make abortion care more safe, affordable, and accessible.
We believe that abortion access is essential healthcare, and that anybody who wants or needs an abortion should be able to do so. Please join us by donating $13.10 (for the 13.1 miles we’ll be running) or whatever you can give.
