Hope for Ycon

Donation protected

Zercon Gabriel Monterola Minano, fondly called Ycon by family and friends, was in his third year BS Information Technology course in university when he was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease due to IgA Nephropathy.

At a very young age of 21, he started twice to thrice a week dialysis, in which his family spends  around
P 66,000.00 ( $ 1,715.00 ) monthly. That has been more than four  years ago when he started his first dialysis in October 2011. Since then, life for Ycon has never been the same. He quit school and found time with family and friends less enjoyable. Before dialysis aside from school, he loved to perform as  the lead guitarist in a band . As he continued with regular dialysis, he somehow tried to connect with his bandmates  in the best possible way that he can when he feels his best. He also developed a passion for photography and reading during these difficult times which he hopes to continue.

Going almost five years in dialysis, he and his family decided to give himself a shot at kidney transplant hoping for a better life after the surgery. They have spent P300,000.00 ( $ 8,571.00 + )     for the work-up and they need at least P1.7 to P2 million ( $ 48,571.42 + to 57,142.85 + ) for the transplant plus P50,000.00 ( $ 1,428. 57 ) per month initially for his maintenance medications. For a family of 5 ( Ycon has a sister who just graduated from college and a brother who is in university ) whose parents are regular government employees  and running a  modest business , these expenses are too much considering that they live in the Philippines. Medical expenses there are not free though his parents somehow get something from Philhealth ( government medical insurance ).

Ycon, my nephew, is now confined at St Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines  scheduled for kidney transplant on April 26, 2016, 2 days from today.

We need your prayers for his successful surgery and fast recovery and any financial help would be much appreciated. We believe that GOD has a lot in store for him after the surgery considering that he is only 25 years old. God bless everyone for your generosity.
