On Novemever 30 Kellie and her daughter olive were in a serious car accident where they were hit head on.
Olive came away with only scrapes and bruises.
Kellie suffered a traumatic brain injury; damaged vessels on her left frontal lobe, sheering of the brain, eye trauma, a severe cuncussion, and other minor injuries.
Due to her brain injury she suffers from severe migraines, vision problems, cognitive deficits, (severely effects her problem solving skills, comprehension, reasoning, and reading), constant nausea, balance problems, and her short term and visual memory operates at less than 1% of normal adults her age. She is also unable to drive.
For the past 6 months she has undergone numerous therapies including vision therapy, occupational therapy to help her adjust to life with these current issues, physical therapy, myofascial, etc.
The end of April Kellie and her family (husband Jake and Olive) were given the exciting news and referral to see Dr. Collins in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Collins is a renowned doctor who specializes in the recovery of concussions and traumatic brain injuries and has worked with thousands of patients similar to Kellie.
With this exciting news comes lots of expenses.
Kellie is currently unable to work full time. And if she is able to work it usually consists of only a couple hours that lead her to need a full day of recovery.
Their household has become reliant on Jake's income to cover all their bills and day to day expenses.
Both Kellie and Jake will need to travel to Pittsburgh once a month or so for indefinite time until she recovers.
She has remained so positive and is embracing her journey. We don't want the stress of finances to be a burden to her recovery.
