My name is Thomas Wilson, I’m 30 years old, a proud father of three living in West Yorkshire, UK. A qualified Personal Training Practitioner and Nutrition Advisor. My driving purpose in life is to motivate people who struggle with drive, showing that with dedication and a positive mindset, any goal, no matter how small, can be achieved.
In September 2026, I will attempt a 24-hour walking world record, aiming to cover 150 miles in 24 hours; a record that has stood for 50 years. This challenge is inspired by Jesse Castañeda, who in 1976, after being paralyzed as an 8-year-old in a car accident, defied the odds and walked 142 miles in 24 hours. His doctor’s words, “follow my advice and believe. If you believe you can, you can” have stayed with me, and I hope to honor his incredible achievement while inspiring others.
I have three reasons for taking on this record:
- To motivate and inspire as many people as possible, showing what can be done through dedication and a positive mindset.
- To support the children of Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, in the hope that the funds and inspiration help one of them achieve something remarkable in their own lives.
- To honor Jesse Castañeda, proving that even against the odds, incredible feats are possible; for the children, for those fighting challenges and for everyone seeking to push their own limits.
This challenge is not just about walking 150 miles in 24 hours; it’s about demonstrating the power of perseverance and mindset. I’m currently in phase 1 of training, steadily building the endurance, mental focus and discipline needed to make this attempt a success.
I’ve faced significant obstacles myself. Several years ago, I suffered a punctured lung and nearly died in hospital. The aftermath left me depressed and overweight. But through a determined mindset, a “can-do” attitude and sheer dedication, I lost 5 stone, transformed my health, and became a personal trainer and nutrition advisor, all to help others achieve their goals.
Every step I take on this record attempt will be for those who need inspiration, for the children at Great Ormond Street and for anyone striving to overcome adversity. With your support, I hope to make this historic attempt a reality and prove that with mindset and determination, almost anything is possible.
Your Donations Will:
- Contribute to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, helping children access vital care and inspiring hope for the future.
- Cover the costs of the Guinness World Record attempt – including insurance, safety measures, support crew, and equipment.
- Support my full-time training journey, helping me prepare safely and effectively for this historic challenge.
- Help support my family while I reduce client hours to dedicate more time to training and the record attempt.
- Inspire others by demonstrating the power of mindset, perseverance, and dedication in overcoming challenges.
