To say the past month has been difficult, would be an understatement. I’ve lost both my nan and my partner’s nan to dementia, just weeks apart. Losing those close to you is always tough but watching someone you love slowly slip away because of this disease is another level of heartbreaking — and it’s something far too many families go through.
This November, I am doing something a bit mad (and probably pretty stupid!) in their memory: as a team of two, we will be running 5km every hour, on the hour, for 24 hours straight. This is something that I am currently massively underprepared for, but something I am going to run head on into, nonetheless.
I want to raise as much money as I can for Alzheimer’s Society so they can keep funding research and supporting families that are going through the same turmoil we have all experienced.
Every pound donated will be thoroughly appreciated and keep me going through the next 7 weeks of training and grim 24 hours that will be endured when I take on the challenge itself.
If you can, please donate and/or share this page — it would genuinely mean the world to me and my family. This is all in memory of my nan, my partners nan, and everyone else directly/ indirectly impacted by Alzheimer’s/ Dementia.
Thank you!
