Who We Are and Why We’re Doing This

My name is Tom Lloyd-Hughes, and I’m 17 years old. My older brother, Wil Lloyd-Hughes, and I are from Gwernymynydd, Flintshire. We've always been committed to making a difference, especially for those facing challenging situations like the children in hospices.

With the distractions of everyday life, it's easy to forget that there are young people who can only dream of doing the things we often take for granted due to terminal illness. Simple joys like coming home from school, hanging out with friends, or having dinner with family are out of reach for many. Wil and I want to remind everyone, including ourselves, to be grateful for these simple pleasures—and to use that gratitude as motivation to help others.

We only get one shot at life, so let’s dedicate some of our time to making the lives of those less fortunate as meaningful and joyful as possible.

We also love staying active and challenging ourselves, both mentally and physically, which led us to this unique opportunity:

A 24-hour litter pick in our local area to raise as much money as possible for the incredibly brave children and the amazing team at Ty Gobaith (Hope House) Children’s Hospices.

Our family enjoys picking up litter, walking, and meeting new people, and we would love for YOU to join us on this adventure! More details about how and where you can join will be available on my Instagram and Facebook.

We can’t imagine what it’s like to live with a terminal illness at any age, but especially as a child or young adult. It breaks our hearts to think of kids our age spending their childhood in a hospice, and that’s why we’re taking action. If you feel the same way, please consider donating. Every penny will go toward making a difference in their lives.

This summer, many of us enjoyed sunny days at the beach, fun outings with friends, and relaxing stress-free. Unfortunately, for some children, these experiences are out of reach. Let’s raise as much money as we can to make their stay at the hospice as comfortable and joyful as possible.
