We are a vibrant hub of creativity in the community and we are facing financial hardships due to lack of funding for the Arts. We need your help to support creatives!
During the Smithdown Festival weekend (May 2-5th) Smithdown Social Arts Hub are aiming to raise £2,500 to help with our interim running costs and help us on the way to raising larger funds to keep us going for the next few years!
About Us and Our Story So Far:
Our Mission: Smithdown Social Arts Hub is a social enterprise since 2018 committed to supporting creative projects that benefit creative artists.
Throughout the last 4 years, our gallery space, Gallery 455, has curated over 35 art exhibitions with over 1000 pieces of artwork created by over 100 local artists which have reflected the diversity of the local area.
The Autistic Spectrum Collective Art Hub Group:
SSAH host a Community Creative Hub for people on the Autistic spectrum and neurodivergent individuals providing a safe space for weekly art sessions. These sessions help reduce social isolation and a chance to enhance people's mental health and wellbeing. The Autistic Spectrum Collective (ASC) Artists have delivered 3 successful exhibitions at Gallery 455 within the last 3 years.
Smithdown Social Arts Hub has supported these artists on their road to becoming professional artists, a service that is greatly needed for artists that boosts confidence and self-esteem.
At Smithdown Social Arts Hub we have a profit for artists ethos - which promotes fair sharing of profit sales from artistic and creative outputs and exhibits with a minimal commission of 20-30%.
Financial Hardship:
However, like many local art organisations we are facing significant financial pressures, with cuts to funding, the increased operating costs and the cost of living crisis threatening our ability to continue this vital work.
That’s why we’re hosting a 24 hour Art-A-Thon to help raise the funds necessary for our survival - will you donate and help us!
The 24 Hour Art-A-Thon is a testament to the resilience and passion of our art community.

7 Ways to Support SSAH and 24 Hour Art-A-Thon:
1. Donate — Every donation helps (£3.35 the cost of a coffee) all donations will support us immensely. Gifts over £30 receive a limited edition print created by a local Artist.
2. Share — Spread the word via social media, email, and group chats. Share it widely with your family, friends, colleagues and community.
3. Buy a 'Win the Art' Ticket — Just £2 or a row for £5 from the Arts Hub for the chance to win the art created during the 24 hour Art-A-Thon. A bargain!
4. Become a Business Sponsor — Support the arts through your corporate social responsibility (CSR) budget. In return, we’ll promote your business and give you a window sticker to show your support.
5. Pledge to an Artist — Sponsor one of the artists creating work during the 24 hours. Help cover their materials and contribute to the fundraiser.
6. Join as a Supporting Artist — Donate your time and creativity on the day! Your work will be raffled to raise funds.
7. Donate a Piece of Art — Help us raise funds by contributing artwork for the raffle. Buy an artwork and support your local artists!
Smithdown Social Arts Hub needs urgent funding to cover running costs in order to continue its essential services and keep people creating in the community art space in the heart of Smithdown Road.
