Mark Sheffield's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
We have created this fundraiser to raise money to help support our friend Mark Sheffield and his family. Our family came to know the Sheffield family in West Palm Beach over the course of 5 months while our daughter’s were both going through a leg lengthening surgery and the associated therapies. There is an immediate bond parents create when going through such a process. Our love and admiration for Mark and his family was immediate and although we have gone our separate ways since that bond will always be there.

On April First Mark, Jen, and Avery arrived in Oahu Hawaii for a family vacation. On the third day into their wonderful vacation Mark started feeling sick with stomach flu like symptoms. He progressively became much more ill and had to be admitted to the hospital April 6th, at which time he was diagnosed with portal vein thrombosis (the main vein to the liver and gut). With the blood clot so massive his intestines were deprived of blood flow and weakened. He underwent emergency surgery May 7th and has had 5 subsequent surgeries to irrigate his bowels. The medical team continues to monitor Mark closely to make sure bowels are regaining health and healing properly without the possibility of infection. Mark is very sick and has remained in the ICU on a ventilator ever since. Mark has been in the hospital for a month now and must remain in Hawaii because he is too sick to travel home. His wife, Jen, has remained by his side this entire time. His road to recovery will be slow…a few months to a year.

Anyone that has spent time, or had a loved one spend time in a hospital knows how big of a financial burden that can create. We are hoping to relieve some of the financial burden and help the Sheffield’s by raising funds in their name. During this difficult time, please help to shine the light of kindness, strength and support on the Sheffield family by making a donation of any amount you can. We want Mark, Jen, and Avery to know that we are all here for them…whether we are friends, family, or strangers. Together we can provide tremendous financial relief for Mark and his family.
We are all praying for a quick and safe recovery!
P.S. Please share with family and friends.
