Dear Friends, Family, and Wonderful Supporters,
Who Are You Helping?
My name is Megan Wei, a viola performance major at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University. I will be a senior this coming fall.
My family recently moved from Texas to California, and we are currently selling our old house in order to support my brother through graduate school, my own college education, and other expensive costs associated with studying music, including instrument maintenance, purchasing a new viola, sheet music, and travel.
The Aspen Music Festival
This summer, I have been given the amazing opportunity to further my viola studies at the Aspen Music Festival and School, a prestigious eight-week summer music program in Aspen, CO, that brings together many of the world's best classical musicians to perform in over 300 concerts and events. Students are accepted through a competitive audition process to study with renowned professors, perform in master classes, be immersed in their orchestral program, and collaborate with visiting musicians. In a way, it is the most idyllic and beneficial music community that I could be a part of.
What I'm Raising Money for:
In February, hours of hard work paid off when I was accepted to the festival into the studio of Masao Kawasaki, Professor of Viola at Juilliard. I am lucky to be able to work with him, and I believe that this could be a turning point in my musical growth as a violist. Unfortunately, the total cost of attendance is $7800, and while I'm lucky to have been awarded $6000 in scholarship money from the generous support of multiple sources, I still need $1800 in order to attend. With your help, attending the Aspen Music Festival will not only be possible, but may be the most important and rewarding summer of my life.
Thank You
I can't express in words how much this means to me and how hard I have worked for it. Please consider sponsoring me for this incredible opportunity and know that no amount is too big or small. I am beyond grateful for any and all support I have received up until this point from my teachers, my friends, and from those I have only managed to cross paths with. I humbly appreciate your time, energy, and thoughtfulness towards my music. Thank you for reading, and I sincerely hope to cross paths with you in the near future.
With gratitude,
Megan
