Dawn til Dusk O1 Relay

Secklow Hundred Dragon Boat Club needs your help!
Dragon Boating: It’s fast and it’s fierce, but it’s distinctly lacking in funding...
We are a team of determined paddlers who are passionate about our sport, but sadly we are struggling to find the money that helps us to look after our boats and equipment.
Like many other clubs, our funding has taken a hit this year as our usual events and main sources of income have been cancelled. Thus, we are looking for new ways to raise the money we need to carry out much-needed (and much-delayed) work extending and improving our compound.
While we do have many tales to tug on your heartstrings (picture slowly decaying boats, paddles without handles and mouldy buoyancy aids...), we know that actions speak louder than words, and so, on the date that would have marked the grand finale in this year’s many cancelled race events, we are aiming to do what we do best, and paddle for our supper.
So on Saturday 19th September we will bring you...the “Dawn til Dusk O1 Relay”!
As we haven’t been allowed in our beloved Dragon Boats for quite some time (thanks again Covid), we’ve been doing all of our water training in O1s instead. And so, our brilliant / crazy idea is to have a continuous O1 paddling session from sunrise to sunset. Our training sessions don’t usually last for much longer than an hour and a half, so this is quite the challenge.
So... if we didn’t need funding before this event, it’s safe to say we may need it by the end, as it’s going to be a pretty tough session for those boats! We would really appreciate any support, so big or small, all donations are gratefully received.
Thank you for helping our club.

We are a Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) so we can claim gift aid. Make sure that box is ticked!
