Salina is a co-worker of ours on R3E at Reading Hospital and Medical Center. She has a heart of gold, and is an amazing nurse to her patients. Salina and her husband have two beautiful daughters, and were looking to add another bundle of joy to the family. After suffering a devistating early pregnancy loss, imagine the joy when Salina and and her husband Dawud found out that they were expecting a new addition to the family. Then, they got the ultimate surprise when at the first ultrasound there was not only one healthy baby, but TWO! Twins! Everything was going well with the pregnancy, when Salina started having pains on May 7th. She went to the hospital to get checked, and they realized she was at a very high risk of delivering the twins. At only 23 weeks and 6 days pregnant, it was way to early for the babies to come out! Not only that, but the NICU at the hospital was full and she was immediately transferred by ambulance to Hershey Medical Center. However, in the ambulance she started contracting even more, and unfortunately they had to do an emergency c-section when she arrived at Hershey. Born at 24 weeks on Mother's Day 2016 - Ava Marie Johnson was 1lb 5oz, and Antonio Heikeim Johnson was 1lb 6oz. Both babies are in critical condition in the NICU. Not only will Salina and Dawud have significant medical expenses for the babies, the financial toll of traveling an hour and a half to see them will quickly add up. Also the missed work for Salina to be with her critical infants will impact the family. As her work family, we are asking for prayers for the family, and any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated. We want to do everything we can to help her during this time of need. She is always helping others, and now we can help her! I will be posting updates about the babies as they grow. Thank you to everyone!
