Hello Everyone, My name is Jenny, Some of you know my brother as Natalio others know him as Nat and of course i cant forget the famous one "Nacho" My brother is 47yrs old and at the age of 11 he was diagnosed with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes. His pancreas does not produce insulin so therefore he has been giving himself shots of insulin several times a day everyday for 36yrs. This disease is atrocious it slowly eats away at your body. Causing unbelievable damage slowly taking away your quality of life. My brother has had so many hospital visits due to the damage this disease has & is causing him. He is one of the most caring people you will ever meet, he would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it and would be there for anyone if they ever needed him. On Aug 18th 2020 ambulance was called because my brothers glucose levels could not be managed and it was making him extremly sick. He was taken to CMH where it took almost two days to get his glucose to somewhat remain in a safe zone. This caused the ER doctor to run several tests to find out what was happening. After an ECO cardiogram and a CT they found my brother had serious damage to his heart and had suffered a heart attack but never feeling a single symptom due to his diabetes and glucose fluctuations. He has been in hospital ever since and on Monday Aug 24 2020 he was sent to St Marys General Hospital in Kitchener where they performed an angiogram. My brother was then told his heart had suffered so much damage that he was going to need open heart triple bypass surgery. Our hearts dropped this has taken my family by complete shock. On Tuesday Aug 25 2020 his now Cardiologist spoke with him explaining that my brother has 95% blockage in one ventricle and 91% in the other he further explained that he had never seen this kind of blockage in anyone under 80 years old and told my brother hes lucky to be alive he wasn't quite sure how my brother has made it this far. He also made Nat aware that looking at the scans and the results of the angiogram that this was not the first heart attack he had suffered. My brother has worked construction all his life, when covid hit his work was done and he never got the call back to return as we started trying to get back to normal life. My brother had found a new job and had only started the Thursday before this all happened and on Monday when he couldn't be at work due to his diabetes he lost his job. I am asking first and foremost that anyone and everyone send prayers his way and positive vibes and if thats all you can do its already appreciated more then you know to myself, my family and of course him. I am starting this gofund me in hopes to be able to cover all the new meds he will be given as well as his continuing lifetime meds such as his insulin, this will also go towards helping with his long rehabilitation process that we have ahead of us the transportation back and forth to get him where he needs to be and anything else we will need along the way. He will not be able to go back to the only thing he has enjoyed doing for work for over 25yrs. The medical expenses are going to start and i dont want to add more stress to his heart worrying how he is going to cover all these expenses. I know he is extremely loved in this community by many as well as out in Regina, Saskatchewan where he was living for several years for better opportunities. He returned home because his diabetes has rapidly gotten worse. Myself, my family and my brother whom i have always been extremely close with sincerely thank you in advance for any little bit you can do. As I said before first and foremost please say a prayer for him, hes not at his strongest and we need him to be. I can not thank you all enough for even just taking the time to read this. I pray we can all help him out as he has helped many himself, Hes simply put an amazing Son, Brother, Uncle and Friend Thank you sincerely and God Bless.
