Once upon a time
Once upon a time, there were two friends named Chris and Lea. They loved each other very much. They got married and lived in a little home with two dogs and ten years passed.....
Chris and Lea Commandeur live in a small home in downtown San Jose, California. Chris works as a youth pastor at Calvary San Jose. Lea is a SJSU CHAD degreed teacher in a preschool which provides extensive support for San Jose's underserved families and child populations. Their decision to open their home and become a foster family came after many tears and much prayer. They are connected with “Foster the Bay”, which uses Psalm 68:5-6 as their mission statement “…. a Father to the fatherless…. God places the lonely in families”. God’s heart cry is also expressed in the words of Gilbert Murillo of the Santa Clara County Social Services Agency "the south bay is in a crisis...a call to action...with families needed to take sibling groups because the number of children in foster care is increasing, while the number of foster homes is dwindling." Chris and Lea desire to be licensed for three children, preferably a sibling group. Their last hurdle is the home study by Santa Clara County Office of Social Services. They need the following to be in place for the study: a set of bunk beds, a crib, a car seat, a dresser, clothing, toiletries/ diapers, educational toys and more. The supplies and children’s room has to be set up and supplies purchased before the home study.
The children of our county and country are all our children. With hopeful hearts Chris and Lea are asking you to prayerfully consider supporting the Bay Area’s children.
