The majority of you know from reading my Facebook posts that I have a heart for serving others.  I am fulfilled by serving people in many ways.  Many of you have told me you appreciate that I take a personal interest in everyone I come into contact with.  You also understand that my heart belongs first to God and secondly to my family.  Recently our son David, daughter-in-law Kari, and grand angels are in need of support on several fronts.  Thank you for over 200 posts of encouragement and prayers for David’s health issue.  At present, the most urgent phase of the health problems has been alleviated by surgery.   However, the situation has nonetheless placed his family in critical financial hardship due to the rehabilitation period. The circumstances are threatening their ability to continue to serve at the capacity that David and Kari have served in Las Vegas over the past three years.

David had been suffering with excruciating back pain for over two months.  It finally reached the point where he had lost all the function in his left leg and could only get around on crutches.  Because David and Kari had no medical insurance the surgery needed was delayed until God stepped in with a miracle.  His Doctors and medical experts were awesome and were able to get him in the system and get the surgery he desperately needed.  He is now pain free, but cannot drive or work and has several physical limitations placed upon him by the doctors.  In 6-8 weeks he should be back to normal.

Herein is the problem.  David and Kari are the directors of an amazing nationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization dedicated to helping hurting people who were living destructive and abusive lifestyles.  They opened a home where they can provide faith, hope, and love to those who previously had none. Currently the home is housing 26 young men.  They do amazing work.  Together with the help of the community and local churches they are playing a huge part in leading these men back to society through God.  It takes hard work and determination to reclaim these lives.  It also takes money, yes, lots of money.  But, right now David is handicapped.  He is unable to raise the funds required support his family.

In fact, 16 years ago that's exactly what redeemed David when he walked through those very same doors in Oakland, CA as a broken life in need of restoration.  He has never looked back. Today David and Kari are the Directors of the facility in Las Vegas and they are making a difference everyday!  One of many reasons for their success is that David has been in the exact same shoes as the men he serves.  As you can imagine, the forces of darkness are fighting against David and Kari and the organization.  They have faced many hardships.  But, their faith has carried them forward.  David is on the governing board of his church and also a board member of the Christian Learning Academy where their children attending school.  They are amazing people doing great things and your prayers sustain them.  They are a family that has given their lives to helping others and who rarely ask for anything for themselves needs your help.

 As a mother, I want to give them the world.  With much prayer and reflection (and at the suggestion of several of you) I am asking that if you feel lead, together we can bless them in a mighty way so that they can continue to bless others without the burden of finances for their family.  Our hope is to provide some temporary stability so they can slow down for a minute and give their family the care and attention that they need right now. Our hope is to help them get through the rest of 2016.  David is currently on a medical leave without pay, but even when he was working he has differed a number of paychecks over the years in order to not turn a single person in need away from the help and hope that they deserve.
